What good is a script consultant?Your script gets one chance to prove itself to agents, managers, producers and executives. So, you better have it in the best shape possible before you throw out your opportunity to make your first and only impression. Script writing is a collaborative process. Even A-list writers at the top of their game rely on constructive feedback from professionals. Every script writer needs unbiased and professional input to make their script work as a movie and to make their script sales worthy (or at least get noticed). Your friends and family who love everything you do aren't the ones who can give you constructive feedback. Even someone with a more critical eye may not be able to tell you how to fix the problem and that's where a script consultant may be the right option for you. You pay them to do what a good development executive or manager would do - evaluate your script's plot, structure, story, character development and help you address and fix the problems in your rewrite. A good script consultant gives you the same critical help a manager would give a client, but you won't ruin your opportunity to make a good first impression. If your work isn't up to snuff the first time it's read by a buyer or agent, that buyer or agent won't read anything you write ever again. A script consultant will help you to bring your work up to snuff with your reputation and opportunities completely intact.

No CoverageYou will also notice that I DO NOT offer coverage services. Coverage DOES NOT help you to write a better script. (Script coverage is a filmmaking term for the analysis and grading of screenplays used by the development department of a production company or studio to evaluate material purchase. It includes a script summary and rating system.)Coverage is used to determine the marketability of your script and to help executives decide if the story fits in with their company mandate. It also helps a busy executive fake that they actually read your script when they have to report to their supervisor. Coverage has everything to do with summarizing your work for the corporate world and has nothing to do with giving you notes and suggestions. You are a writer. You can write your own script summary for FREE. Leave the coverage in the hands of the agents and executives. |
